NEW YEAR SYNOPSES (updated 04/01/06)
With the festive season fast-approaching, we thought we'd let you know what's going to happen at Sun Hill over Christmas and the New Year...
Chilling
times are ahead at Sun Hill in Winter 2006 when one of
their own is murdered in cold blood. Deeply shocked, the relief begin a
frantic search to bring the killer to justice.
But life has to go on. And a familiar face makes a welcome addition to the force
in the shape of PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) just
in time for Christmas.
DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) reaches breaking
point when domestic bliss turns sour and his nephew goes missing. Discovering
that maybe he and Lucy (Lisa Stevenson) weren’t so well suited after all,
Terry finally wakes up to the possibility that there was someone perfect for him
close by all this time. But is it too late to rekindle romance?
DCI
Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) is thrown into a professional crisis when a case
from the past comes back to haunt him. Investigated by his uncomfortable team,
Jack’s situation puts his colleagues in a quandary. Can they bend the rules to
help their DCI out of trouble? The question on everyone’s lips is whether Jack
is as squeaky clean as they’d thought or if they are putting their own careers
on the line to save his?
Two new, very different, probationers join the team making distinct impressions
on the relief. PC Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge)
sets pulses racing immediately and PC Lewis Hardy (Aml
Ameen) takes no time in proving to be a handful that needs bringing round to the
Sun Hill way of thinking.
Sgt Dale (Smithy) Smith’s (Alex Walkinshaw) affair
brings another sinister twist, placing his career and freedom in jeopardy...
Whilst DCI Jack Meadows (Simon
Rouse) is on the run from the DPS, DCI Frank Keane (Lorcan Cranitch) warns DS
Sam Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) they face suspension
if they’re found helping Jack during the investigation into his alleged
corruption.
Alongside Keane, DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) brief DPS officers about
Jack’s history and the details of the statement made against him by Vince
Parker (Michael Jayston) and they set out to arrest Jack and accomplice Douggie
Price (Paul Copley).
Douggie’s car is soon spotted and Neil and Frank set out to make their
arrests. Neil manages to catch up with Jack but in a desperate race to clear his
name, Jack begs Neil to give him 24 hours to do so. He lets Jack go and lies to
Frank that they got away.
Meanwhile, Sam and Mickey visit Jack’s son Benjamin (Kieran Bew) who is in the
hospital wing of the prison after being badly beaten. When they realise that the
incident is directly linked to the allegations against Jack, despite being
warned by Frank, Sam and Mickey soon join forces again to help their DCI clear
his name.
Staying one-step-ahead of a frustrated Neil and Keane, Jack and Douggie continue
their own investigation to prove their innocence. But when Vince Parker dies a
sudden death, events take a dramatic turn. Will Jack be found innocent or follow
in his son’s footsteps to prison?
New recruits PCs Emma Keane
(Melanie Gutteridge) and Lewis Hardy’s (Aml Ameen) first day at Sun Hill and
PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler) and PC Leela Kapoor (Seema Bowri) are assigned
to show them the ropes. But whilst investigating a crime on the Holbeck Estate,
courageous Lewis gets off on the wrong foot when an over-zealous tackle results
in a complaint being made against him. Could the new probationer’s career be
over before it’s begun?
Meanwhile, PCs Yvonne Hemmingway (Michele Austin) and Tony Stamp (Graham Cole)
arrest Raymond Taylor (Lloyd McGuire) for driving erratically and are stunned
when he confesses to raping a woman the night before. However, the case isn’t
as straight forward as it first appears when a distraught Raymond tests positive
for date-rape drug, Rohypnol. DCs Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) and Suzie Sim (Wendy
Kweh) go in search of the alleged victim, Miranda (Jo-anne Stockham) who has
gone missing. When they discover that Raymond was also robbed on the night of
the alleged rape, Jo and Susie conclude that he is the victim and Roger goes
undercover to catch Miranda.
PCs
Roger Valentine (John Bowler) and Leela Kapoor continue to puppy-walk
probationers, Lewis Hardy (Aml Ameen) and Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge). Roger
and Lewis are soon called out to investigate young mum, Leanne (Lucy Speed), who
claims to have been threatened by a man with a used needle. Unimpressed by the
action taken against the drug problem on the estate where she lives, Leanne
turns up at the station and dumps a load of needles on the front desk, leaving
new PC Emma to clean up. Determined to sort the problem, Superintendent Adam
Okaro (Cyril Nri) organises a drugs bust and volunteers rookie Lewis Hardy to be
the under-cover man.
Meanwhile, DS Ramani De Costa’s (Thusitha Jayasundera) boyfriend Saul Peterson
(Darren Saul) is concerned about Roy (Emmanuel Idowu), who has been threatened
with a gun at the community centre and asks if she could dig a little deeper.
Although jealous of their relationship, DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) agrees to
help. During the investigation, Terry and Ramani discover that the gun-man, C.J
(Adam Allfrey), is Roy’s sister’s ex-boyfriend and is threatening Roy
because he wants to know where she is. Later, when Roy’s sister Lisa (Madeline
Appiah) is abducted, the race is on to find her and it isn’t long before
it’s Terry’s turn to stare down the barrel of C.J’s gun…
Also, PC Dan Casper (Chris Jarvis) keeps mum about his spare room that he
offered to Emma when he catches PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) scanning the papers
for a room to rent for himself. Playing the innocent in front of the boys, Emma
tells Dan she is unable to take him up on his offer, leaving him no choice but
to reluctantly offer the room to a delighted Will.
DS Phil Hunter (Scott Maslen) and
DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) investigate a robbery at a convenience store
where the distraught owner, Mr Conway (Derek Ezenagu), was threatened with a
machine gun. One of the assailants was bitten by the shopkeeper’s dog, which
he then shot dead.
Terry and Phil trace the man with the bite injury through St Hugh’s A&E
but lose him. They pick up his mobile which was left at reception and note that
the last number he rang was known criminal, Danny Wing (Dickon Tolson). Phil and
Terry accompanied by C019 officers break down the door to Danny’s flat and
ring him from the phone they picked up at the hospital. The number appears on
Danny’s phone as ‘Joseph Oyelamu’ (Jason Steed) who is found on file;
he’s got major form - drugs, guns and armed robbery.
No-hoper Danny struggles during his ‘no comment’ interview and DS Ramani De
Costa (Thusitha Jayasundera) tells Phil to try and get Danny’s girlfriend,
Tanya (Leila Borris) to go back on Danny’s alibi.
Ramani tells Tanya she knows she is pregnant with Danny’s child and convinces
her to help them with their inquiries – it would be very bad timing if Danny
went down for a long stretch. Tanya shows them a copy of the CCTV tape which
shows Joseph drawing his gun and Danny’s shocked reaction. Ramani then manages
to persuade Danny to reveal Joseph’s whereabouts which lead to a dramatic
showdown.
Ramani realises she enjoys the action of being a copper when she gets the rare
opportunity to work on an action-packed case. Impressed by her bravery, Ramani
is the toast of the pub.
Also, Sergeant Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) and Louise Larson (Rosie Marcel)
agree to make the most of the time they have left together before she gives
evidence against Pete and goes into witness protection. Loved-up Smithy suggests that he and Louise run away together after the trial.
Louise tells Smithy she doesn’t want to screw his life up but his mind is made
up. He tells her they are going to go through with his plan. Emigrate to
Australia and start afresh. They seal the deal with a kiss but will it go as
planned?
Sergeant Dale Smith (Alex
Walkinshaw) and PC Laura Bryant (Melanie Kilburn) investigate Tom Brigden (Simon
Delaney) who is bewildered when a sniffer dog successfully spots him out as
carrying drugs. Tom dobs his mate Andy (Andy Paul Harvey) in as being the
cannabis user but Smithy gives them both a drugs test.
Meanwhile, back at Tom and Andy’s student house, PC Steve Hunter (James Lloyd)
and Laura discover a secret door hidden behind a mirror and are stunned to find
a room full of cannabis plants.
Tom desperately tells Smithy and DC Suzie Sim (Wendy Kweh) that he didn’t know
about the plants and that the landlord, John Grimmond must be involved. DC Zain
Nadir (TJ Ramini), Smithy and Suzie follow John when he leaves the house leading
them to a haul of cannabis production goods. Zain congratulates Smithy on the
arrest of Grimmond who has given them a lead on a big drugs baron.
Meanwhile, DS Phil Hunter (Scott Maslen) is intrigued when Cindy (Jacqueline
Defferary) arrives at the station with a toddler in tow and is shocked when he
later discovers she didn’t report the child missing straight away. Cindy
breaks down and tells Phil she wants to stop the IVF treatment and wants to
adopt instead. Full of dread at this prospect, Phil says nothing.
Despite of a good day at work, Sergeant Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) decides to
give up his career for a future with Louise (Rosie Marcel). But as Smithy gets
out of his car to meet her, a gun is put to his head.
PCs Yvonne Hemmingway (Michele Austin) and Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) are called
out to a hit and run and discover that Louise has been killed. They are
horrified when it looks as though Smithy was responsible when he is found
slumped and unconscious at the wheel of his car.
